Overall Ranking: 5/10

Young Living Essential Oils Overview

Young Living is an MLM company based in Lehi, Utah that sells essential oils and other related products.

The history behind Young Living:

Young Living was founded in 1993 by Donald Gary Young, a controversial figure previously convicted for the unlicensed practice of medicine. He became interested in alternative medicine after experiencing a back injury in the 1970s. In 2015, Donald stepped down as CEO, and his third wife, Mary Young, took over.

In 2010, Young Living became the “first large commercial distillery” to distill essential oils from Frankincense. Frankincense is an essential oil believed to work as an expectorant to clear the nasal passageway, promote congestion relief, and encourage easy breathing. It has a sweet, woody aroma which some people like and some people hate. This aroma is also believed to act as a sedative and enhances mood by relieving feelings of stress.

In 2013, Young Living Filed suit against doTERRA for theft of trade secrets. Young Living lost, and the judge ordered Young Living to pay doTERRA’s legal fees

In 2014, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration warned Young Living over the illegal marketing of its products as treatments or cures for Ebola Virus, Parkinson’s Disease, Autism, Diabetes, Hypertension, Cancer, Insomnia, Heart Disease, Post-traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), Dementia and Multiple Sclerosis (MS).

According to BBB.org Young Living is not an accredited company. That doesn’t mean you can’t sell their products. If a business is a non-accredited, It could mean the vendor did not know about the accreditation process, or the vendor opted not to go through the accreditation process.

In an article you can read at www.theoilyguru.org, it states that as of 2017, the FDA now approves of Young Living Products.

I must admit that I really like all the products I bought from Young Living. I enjoy using them whether the FDA approved of them of not. They seem quite natural to me.

What do you think?

I like using natural products and being my own judge, don’t you?

My favorite Young Living products are the peppermint essential oil, lemon essential oil, and the thieves cleaning spray.

All fantastic products but the one problem I have with becoming a Young Living Member is, I don’t care to pay the upfront costs for membership, so I buy them from either a good friend or on www.amazon.com.

If you ever wanted to understand how affiliate marketing works and how you can either sell Young Living online and or other affiliated companies like Amazon, Awin, Cj affiliate, Clickbank, Wealthy Affiliate, etc. for beginners,

Despite the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, most reviews people wrote on the www.bestcompany.com website stated that Young Living’s products are of great quality and they will continue to buy them.

The biggest complaints I found were on the www.bbb.org website.

Most complaints were due to:

  • Poor customer service (phone service) when inquiring about charges or mistakes on orders.
  • Being charged for items immediately that did not get shipped due to backorders or low inventory.
  • Trouble canceling orders even when orders were placed on the same day.
  • Poor quality products upon delivery.
  • Bottles being either broken or half-emptied upon delivery.
  • Overpriced products and shipping rates.
  • Late delivery even tho paid for express shipping cost.
  • Not allowing members to use all their points at once.

Young Living continues to grow and is currently making over 1.5 billion in sales every year. Obviously people love their products. Natural remedy products are on the rise, and as long as Young Living continues to sell quality products, they will and distributors who can “market well,” will succeed!

Young Living stands behind their quality of standards with “Seed the Seal”

“Seed the Seal is our set of standards that helps ensure that with every pure essential oil and Young Living product your family uses, you’re enjoying the benefits of our global resources, industry leadership, and over two decades of innovation.”

Now let’s see if becoming a Young Living member is worth it?

What Is the Young Living Loyalty Subscription Program About?

This program is designed to allow Young Living to approve of having your favorite products delivered right to your door every month, whether you are home or not, and you are only allowed to skip one month during a 12 month period.

If you decide to join this program, you are supposed to get:

  • Be rewarded with loyalty gifts each quarter for the first year.

What’s PV?

PV is the Personal/Point Volume. It is a point value that is assigned to each Young Living product. Usually, 1 point equals $1 dollar (some products are worth less points).

  1. Starting earning money using the MLM way is hard and not for everyone. You must have strong salesman skills to do that and most people are not able to do so. On the other hand Affiliate marketing is so much easy that anyone can start with little to almost no knowledge or skills. That’s why it’s so easy to start with. Having a little insight on MLMs I would say that it’s mostly for people that know what they are doing. For everyone else Wealthy Affiliate is a recommended starting point.

I’m glad to hear you’ve had experience with MLM’s and would rather direct people who are brand new at selling to start at Wealthy Affiliate.

I remember when I first started my website, I didn’t even know how to copy and paste! No joke! Now, I cannot believe how much I’ve learned and how far I’ve come in just a matter of 6 months! It’s been a challenging but awesome experience so far!

Thank you for your insight about MLM’s.

  2. Hi

That was an interesting review of Young Living Essential Oil and it sounds like it is a promising product but this does not mean that it is worth investing as a business. I do not like the idea of all the upfront expenditure they make you do in order to become an eligible member, as it sounds to me that they are more bothered about the money for the programme than selling the product itself. I think it is safer to become an affiliate and promote the products using affiliate marketing rather than joining the programme, I  am in general not in favour of MLM as nobody else profits apart from the people at the very top.

I always research anything I want to join with a fine toothcomb but I got to admit it does not appeal to me.

    Thanks

    • Absolutely Antonio,

Being an affiliate marketer to promote a variety of products has a greater chance of success than joining an MLM. Research is best before spending any of your hard-earned money investing in anything until you know it’s legit. I’m glad I decided to take the affiliate marketing route instead.

Thank you, I’m glad you enjoyed my review.

  3. Young living products are good and it consists of natural things that are healthy. It’s just like other good MLM companies who sell nutritional supplement. I love using the products. The only thing I don’t like is the business part of it. I don’t really like being a member of any MLM company because of the business plans of MLM companies and young living is not an exception.

When it comes to using Young living products, I love using the products because they are good products.

The process to make money with MLM’s can be very challenging. Being an affiliate marketer is a lot more effective and the start-up costs are cheaper.

      All the best to you!
