1. Get Your Zzzzzzz’s
I know this is probably of no surprise to you but it must be said that a lot of people simply don’t sleep enough. Ever lose your patience or feel cranky at all during the day, it’s most likely due to the lack of sleep.
We all require at least 7 to 8 hours of sleep per day. Our brains will not function properly to make the best decisions if we don’t sleep well. If, you want to have more energy and feel more productive throughout your day, get your zzzzzz’s.
Tip – Go to bed at the same time every day. Keep a routine if you can or as close as you can. Do not fall asleep with the television on. This is a distraction for you as it most likely will wake you up at some point during the night.
A heating blanket significantly improved my sleep! The warmth and comfort of my heating blanket really help soothe my muscles and now I wake up every morning feeling more refreshed than ever before! I couldn’t live without it now (except during the summer, of course).
2. Stay Hydrated
Yes, another NO BRAINER! But, it’s so true! Not everyone likes to drink water and that’s okay. You can still drink flavored water or juice mixed with water. If that helps you stay hydrated then so be it! Add lemon, Mio, or just straight-up juice of any kind to your water and drink up!
Tip – Buy a well-insulated large thermos and fill it up every morning with water and drink it throughout the day. Take it with you in the car when you have to run errands or go to work. Never leave home without it! How many times have you been out and about and was thirsty? Bring your thermos everywhere you go and never feel thirsty again! This will help keep you hydrated and sustain energy naturally! Dehydration leads to low energy. Make sure to consume enough water throughout your entire day to sustain high energy.
3. Eat Right!
I highly recommend you eat as many veggies as possible on every plate. I believe it’s the most important food for us to consume. Talk about getting all your vitamins for energy the most natural way. Here it is! So veggie it up!
If you need a new frying pan to make more delicious vegetable stir-frys, I use this model found below that both myself and my husband really enjoy using every day!
Make eating vegetables your priority when eating anything. I’d say at least half your plate or more with just vegetables. Eat more veggies and way less meat and high sugar carbohydrates.
Meat, bad carbohydrates, and high sugar foods will only leave you feeling too full, lazy, bloated, and just too uncomfortable. These foods are more difficult for our stomachs to digest than vegetables. Therefore, causing you to have less energy as a result.
Tip – Add some healthy carbohydrates with your veggies like baked potatoes, brown rice, or quinoa and you will have a completely satisfying meal. My favorite is making different kinds of stir-fry because it’s so versatile. Use your favorite stir-fry soy sauce, pad tai sauce, or whatever to make it even more delicious. I use this copper frying pan for all my stir fry and love it! You can make enough to last 2 to 3 days so you don’t have to cook as often!
You’ve probably have heard all about the benefits of “fasting?”.
Well, it’s true! Fasting is a great way for our stomach to digest and therefore increasing energy and keeping you healthy. The problem is “without fasting”, people are consuming too much food throughout the day causing blood sugar levels to become too high. This will leave you to feel hungrier or even hangerier all day long than you really should be. I used to eat breakfast every day or the wrong type of breakfast (too much sugar) too early in the day, my body would go through a sugar collapse. I’d then, feel sweaty and NEEDED sugar quick like a chocolate bar to pick me up. Now due to fasting, I completely eliminated my low-sugar levels and don’t feel like that anymore. I fast at least 14 to 16 hours every day now. Somedays I can even go longer and my digestive system and body feel so much better. Don’t be too hard on yourself if you’re new to fasting. It has taken me a good year of practicing to adjust to fasting.
Tip – Start off by fasting 10 hours to 12 hours then 14 hours and possibly to 16 hours if you can. Get at least 8 to 9 hours of sleep if you can and drink coffee or tea in the morning to curb your appetite. Even take a shower, do laundry, or anything that keeps your mind off food. This is what has worked out very well for me. It’s in our minds what we can and cannot do.
Do what you can but always strive to succeed in fasting at least 14 hours every day. Of course, you should talk to your doctor first before you decide to make this kind of dramatic lifestyle change. Most people will benefit from fasting but make sure it’s approved by your physician before you start.

5. Stay Active
Of course, we all know being active is very important. But how important? You would think kids need to exercise more than adults to burn off their energy, but nope. Everyone needs to exercise! No matter what age you are! Get moving and get your body healthy.
If you want to sustain the energy of a young person then you need to do what your body requires you to do, to feel like a young person. No excuses! Just because you know you are older, doesn’t mean you can make excuses to feel older! Don’t sit around watching television for hours every day. Make sure you stay active and productive to the best of your ability.
Tip – Get that body up every day. Stretch first thing in the morning. Even just for 3 to 5 minutes to get your blood flowing. I do this in the privacy of my bathroom so there are no interruptions. Stretching is the best way to get oxygen into your body first thing before you start off on your busy day.
You can also walk on the treadmill, go for a brisk walk, clean the house, swim, follow a work-out video, or do something similar every single day. There are tons of ways you can get your body moving without having to spend even one penny to do so.
Park far enough that you have to walk more. Walk fast and teach your body to keep ongoing. Don’t miss one day of getting your body up and moving or this will lead to laziness and therefore zero energy.
The body is created to move every single day and if you want to have more energy, move every chance you get. Never stop moving no matter how old you get! The faster, the better!
If you give up on yourself, your body will give up on you too!
So you decide…What are you going to do?
I walk on my treadmill almost every day. It’s very important to increase your metabolism. If you can go for walks outside, great! But for me, I’d rather stay in and walk on my treadmill.
***If, you have any health conditions or concerns, please consult your doctor first before making any dramatic lifestyle changes***
I’m now 44 years old and have more energy now than I did in my 20s most days. Maybe even younger because my kids are young and when we go to the mall, they say I walk way too fast. I love it because I’m 3 times their age and I can move faster than they can! I plan on being this active and full of energy for years to come.
If you want this too, follow me on my blog and I will help you through this journey to feeling better over 40. Instead of growing older, let’s “grow younger!”.
