Want to learn how to start selling on Amazon for beginners? With so much information on the internet, how can any beginner know where to start? Don’t worry, I have 3 very low-cost options (1 free) for you to consider that will teach you exactly how to become an Amazon selling expert.

How To Start Selling On Amazon For Beginners?

According to junglescout.com, Amazon sellers make at least 1,000 per month and some up to 250,000 per month. Building an Amazon business or any online business rather takes time and it’s important to remember that you will not get rich overnight. Patience and skills are necessary but if you are serious about making money online with Amazon from home, with proper training, it can be accomplished.

There are 3 very low-cost options I will explain for you to consider (1  is completely free!) to start an online Amazon business from scratch. I think as a complete beginner, this will be quite helpful and give you some insight on which one will work best for you.

I was once in your shoes and wanted to learn how to sell on Amazon to make money as well. I will share with you the route I chose to take and why?

The first option I will talk about is Amazon Retail Arbitrage, the second option is Amazon FBA and the third option is to be an Amazon Associate. So let’s get started!

Option 1: Amazon Retail Arbitrage FBA(Fulfillment By Amazon)

Retail Arbitrage

Retail Arbitrage is  when you buy items in bulk at a highly discounted price from stores such Walmart, Target, Costco, Dollar Stores, eBay, IKEA, Toy Stores, Flea markets, etc. and sell them on the Amazon Marketplace   platform for profit. It’s completely up to you to buy these items either in-store or online. Amazon enables third-party sellers to sell new or used products at a fixed price. This allows you full access to Amazon’s customer base without having to invest a lot of money.

If you ship the items to Amazon FBA(fulfilled by Amazon), they will pick, pack and ship the items for you. They also handle all the customer service and returns so you don’t have to. That’s 50% of the workload done for you already!

You need to know that It’s best not sell brand name products as Amazon does not allow Sellers to sell brand name products. This could disqualify you from selling your items. Check out more at Amazon Sellers Central. If you want to sell Brand name products, you have to get permission from the Brand owners first.

To get started in retail arbitrage, drive around to your favorite discounted retailers and scan the items on The FBA Calculator to find out if the price is higher on Amazon. Make sure the products are in great condition. If you usually enjoy shopping, driving around and just looking around for great bargains, retail arbitrage may be a great inexpensive way for you to start an Amazon business.

Option 2: Amazon FBA (Fulfillment by Amazon)

Amazon FBA

You can learn the process of buying products directly from China and have them shipped to an Amazon warehouse. These items are stored there until they are sold. Amazon handles the picking, packing, and shipping of the products to your customer.

They will also handle all the customer service and returns for you as well. This allows you to save time and grow your business, build a brand and really make a lot of money for yourself.

Because all FBA products are eligible for Amazon Prime free 2-day shipping, free shipping and more, you can be sure to get a lot of customers. FBA listings are displayed with a Prime logo so customers know that they will receive optimal customer service that is provided exclusively by Amazon, an already trusted brand!

There are 2 different selling plans for the Amazon FBA service:

1. The Individual Selling Plan is the best plan if you plan to sell less than 40 items per month. Fees for this plan depend on the size and weight of the items being sold and can range anywhere from $2.41 and up.

2. The Professional Selling Plan costs $39.99 per month plus per-item selling fees which vary by category.

You can find more about Amazon’s selling fees here!

There is an awesome FBA course offered at Udemy for under $20. It’s taught by 2 really cool guys named Robin & Jesper who know all about building a successful FBA business.

I took it and highly recommend it.

You will have to invest money in buying products from China and have them shipped to an Amazon warehouse. Before you dive in and become an FBA Seller, It’s very important to learn how this process works so you don’t lose money!

You can check my Udemy FBA Course Review here to learn more about this course or click on the Udemy image below to get sign up!

Make sure to type in “The Amazon FBA Private Label Masterclass” in the search bar and you should see Robin and Jesper’s course right away!

Option 3 – Amazon Associate (Affiliate Marketer)

An Amazon Associate is the same as an Affiliate Marketer.  Affiliate Marketing is when product companies rewards affiliates for each visitor or customer brought by the affiliates own marketing efforts. They earn commissions for sales on products their visitors buy when they click on their unique affiliate links.

With Amazon, your visitor must buy the item within 24 hours or add the item to their cart and buy it within 89 days. Another great feature to remember as an Amazon Affiliate is, if the buyer adds more items into their cart, you qualify to receive a commission for those items as well. WOW, BONUS!

To qualify as an Amazon Associate you must have an active website or youtube channel. After you have a few quality content pages on your website, you can visit the Amazon Associates homepage and request to become an Amazon Affiliate.

When you sign up to the Country of your choice, it’s best to also activate your AMAZON ONELINK so that you can also sell for every Country that your visitors buy from.

Check out the training on exactly how to do this by watching WP Eagle’s Utube video below! I highly recommend following him. WP Eagle is my go-to for learning tutorials. Learn how to set up an Amazon Associate account and ONELINK below!

Now you know more about how to qualify as an Amazon Associate!

This is awesome!

But, do you have a website or know how to start a Utube channel?

If not, you’ve come to the right place!

It’s exactly where I started out as a complete beginner affiliate just a few months ago. I now have this awesome website all set up and not only have I been accepted into Amazon Affiliate Program, but many other affiliate programs as well that I can earn commissions from.

If you would like to learn more how I started, check out my #1 recommendation here! My #1 Recommendation Here!

Wealthy Affiliate University

My Opinion!

I signed up for the FREE Starter Membership at Wealthy Affiliate in August 2019 and been a Premium Member since September 2019. I decided Affiliate Marketing is the exact path I am committed to take. Making money online takes time and I knew I needed the proper training to get me to the success I’ve been looking for without having to break the bank!

My suggestion is that if you are not really sure what option to choose to make money with Amazon or any other program, It’s best not to invest in anything too expensive until you know for sure it’s the right path for you to take.

Learn what you can for if you can or only invest a little money until you know you ready to commit. Too many times we change our minds and want to learn something else, so try to make sure you don’t invest a lot of money upfront until you know for sure it’s for you or not!

Let’s face it, If anyone really wants to learn how to create wealth online then they will at some point have to spend some money to learn how to achieve their goal. But you can, however, get training inexpensively at first or even completely free until you know it’s the exact path you are ready to commit to.

  1. Okay, I’m probably bring a bit slow, but I don’t understand the difference between options 1 and 2 here. If it’s fulfilled by Amazon then why would you need to buy it as a discount? Anyway, option 3 seems to be a much easier idea to get up and running because it has virtually zero upfront costs.

    • Hi!

Option 1 is when you buy quality discounted items from local stores in the area in which you are living or buy them online if you can find them there. You then, send products to an Amazon warehouse yourself and then post to your seller profile and sell them for more money. This can be a very inexpensive way to start an Amazon business if you don’t mind driving around and are good at knowing how to find great products “to resell” people are interested in buying.

Option 2 is when you buy the products from China at a cheap price as well and have them shipped to an Amazon warehouse. It’s important to get samples delivered to your house first before you decide to buy anything from China and sell it on Amazon. You want to be sure you are buying quality items to sell on Amazon to avoid bad reviews.

Both Option 1 and 2 can qualify for FBA (fulfillment by amazon) because when you send products directly to their warehouse, they take care of all the picking, packing, shipping, customer service and even returns which then allows more time for you to work on finding products to sell. There is a fee for this service.

Option 3 is the best option if you don’t want to invest any money in buying products. You are like a middle person between the Brand(Company who owns the product) and the buyer. You don’t have to buy anything and therefore it’s the cheapest way to go. You just help “sell” the product on your website and earn a commission for the sale. This is called Affiliate Marketing. No fees for selling products. Just maybe some money to invest in a really good course to learn how to build an Affiliate Marketing business.

It’s up to the individual to choose which option works best for them. You can choose to sell many different ways with Amazon eventually but it’s best to choose 1, get really good at that and then move forward from there!

Hope this helps clarify Option 1 and 2 for you:)
